Wow, I cannot believe how quickly the school year is coming to an end!  The seventh grade students have been busy studying chemistry.  I was really impressed with all the models students built of their atom.  Students really did a wonderful and job and demonstrated that they really understand Bohr’s model of the atom.

We will be finishing our unit on Chemistry by studying Acids and Bases.  We will begin next week and this will continue through the end of the year.  Students will engage in many hands on activities to test everyday materials to see if they are acids or bases.

It has been a great year working with the seventh grade students.  I have really enjoyed watching them learn and grown as young adults.  I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing all the students next fall for the start of their last year in middle school!

This is always an exciting time of the year as the eighth grade students prepare to graduate and move on to high school. Not only is it an exciting time of year for these students, but also a nostalgic time.  I know have been spending time reflecting on the past 2 years with these students.  It has really been a pleasure to work with these students and watch them grow over the past couple years.

The eighth grade students have been finishing their year in science by studying electricity and magnetism.  The students were involved in many hands on activities where they had to build various types of circuits. It really is amazing how things can be done with a battery, some wires, and light bulb or two.

Coming up on Wednesday, May 12 the eighth grade class will be traveling out to Coors field for a fun day of science and baseball.  The students will spend the first couple of hours watching science experiments performed by Kathy Sabine, meteorologist from 9 news as well as Steve Spangler, the science guy.  We will then have a break for lunch and will stay to watch the Rockies play the Giants.  The game begins at 1:10 and we will be staying for the entire game.  Students will not return to ACS until the game is complete.  Students will be encouraged to call their parents as we begin our drive back.  Please be sure your child has a way to contact you and that you are able to pick students up within a timely manner.

I wish all the eighth grade students the best of luck next year in high school and in future years wherever the road may lead them!
