Behavior: (Love and Logic Techniques)
“Students will be guided into owning and solving any problem(s) they cause.” (Love and Logic)
The consequences will relate to each unique situation.

Homework:

Please remember that a middle school child’s homework requirements, both in content and length of time required, will look significantly different from an elementary child’s homework requirements. (taken from Student Hand Book)

Students should expect some type of homework Monday-Friday each week. Students are also expected to be reading 20 minutes a night. Homework is due on the assigned date. Homework needs to be completed by the beginning of class or it is late. Students will also be using their student agendas to record their homework. Assignments will also be posted on the website, http://www.academycharter.org, in the homework webpages.

Homework is part of our general academic expectations for our students. It prepares students for high school and college and the work world to be faced upon graduation. It also helps develop a strong work ethic and personal organization skills. Its immediate educational purpose is:
1. to reinforce skills and concepts learned in class
2.	to develop study skills and habits
3.	to inform parents what is being taught in the classroom
4.	makeup work for absences: if circumstances exist, it is the student or parent’s responsibility to contact the
teacher(s) at school so that necessary accommodations can be made for the student
(taken from the Student Hand Book)

Late Assignments:
It is very important that homework assignments are completed on time. Homework is assigned so that students may either review a concept already covered in class or become familiar with a topic that will be covered in class the following day. When a student does not do their homework they miss out on the benefits of participation in classroom discussions and the opportunity to ask questions about what has not been understood. Students will receive full credit if it is turned in within the allotted time frame. After this time has expired or the due date passed, students will be graded accordingly: 1st day late=50% off final grade 2nd day late=a zero. This scale applies to all late work whether it is homework, class work, or projects. After the 2nd day of being late, the assignment will be an automatic zero in the grade book.

Grades:
Students will receive points for assignments. Every assignment is point for point, with the exception of math; test-80% of grade, Power-ups and quizzes-10% and Homework-10%.. The areas students will be graded on are tests, quizzes, projects, homework, in-class assignments and bell work assignments.
Make sure to stop by the office to pick up your Infinite Campus log in information, so that you may, with your student, be able to check their assignments and grade.

Assignments:
Each class is unique and students move at different paces. Assignments may vary throughout Core classes.

Academic Assistance:
Academic assistance time is meant to give students opportunities for extra resources.
